Spyderco Centofante 3 C66PBK3 3.14″ VG-10 Black FRN Folding Knife
The Spyderco Centofante 3 C66PBK3 combines the design influence of legendary custom knifemaker Frank Centofante with Spyderco’s practical approach to lightweight everyday carry.
Built around a 3.14-inch plain-edge VG-10 stainless steel blade, the Centofante 3 features a slim black fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handle, Spyderco’s iconic Round Hole™ opening system and a proven back-lock mechanism.
Compared with many of Spyderco’s more aggressively styled working knives, the Centofante 3 offers a noticeably sleeker and more refined profile while retaining the functionality expected from a serious everyday folder.
3.14-Inch VG-10 Blade
The Centofante 3 features a 3.14-inch VG-10 stainless steel blade, providing an excellent balance between cutting capability and everyday portability.
VG-10 is a Japanese stainless steel with a long history in Spyderco’s lineup.
It provides a well-rounded combination of:
- Good edge retention
- Strong corrosion resistance
- Reliable cutting performance
- Practical everyday toughness
- Manageable sharpening and maintenance
These characteristics make VG-10 particularly appropriate for an everyday knife expected to handle a wide variety of routine cutting jobs.
Drop-Point Blade Profile
The drop-point blade provides a versatile shape suitable for general-purpose use.
Its gently descending spine creates a controllable point while maintaining plenty of usable cutting edge.
The geometry makes the Centofante 3 well-suited for tasks such as:
- Opening packages
- Cutting cardboard
- Slicing tape
- Cutting cord
- Light outdoor tasks
- General everyday utility
- Plain-Edge Cutting Surface
This C66PBK3 features a plain cutting edge, providing a continuous surface for clean and controlled cuts.
The uninterrupted edge works particularly well for routine EDC materials and is straightforward to sharpen and maintain.
For buyers looking for one versatile edge configuration rather than a specialized serrated blade, the plain-edge Centofante 3 is an excellent choice.
Slim Black FRN Handle
The Centofante 3 uses a lightweight black FRN handle.
Fiberglass-reinforced nylon provides excellent durability and environmental resistance while keeping overall knife weight low.
More importantly, the Centofante’s handle maintains a relatively thin, streamlined profile, allowing the knife to ride comfortably in a pocket without the bulk associated with thicker full-size folders.
Distinctive Centofante Styling
The Centofante 3 stands apart from many other Spyderco models through its more refined styling.
The knife incorporates subtle design details that reflect Frank Centofante’s influence, giving it a cleaner and somewhat more traditional appearance than aggressively textured utility-oriented folders.
That makes it an appealing option for users who want Spyderco functionality in a knife that works equally well in casual, professional and everyday environments.
Signature Spyderco Round Hole™
The blade incorporates Spyderco’s iconic Round Hole™ opening system.
Instead of relying on a conventional thumb stud, the opening hole provides an intuitive interface for blade manipulation while maintaining the unmistakable Spyderco profile.
It’s simple, functional and integrates naturally into the Centofante’s slim blade design.
Secure Back Lock
The Centofante 3 incorporates a proven back-lock mechanism.
When the blade is fully opened, the lock engages to provide positive blade lockup during normal cutting tasks.
The straightforward locking system complements the knife’s lightweight construction and keeps operation simple and dependable.
Designed by Frank Centofante
The Centofante 3 was designed in collaboration with Frank Centofante, one of the most respected custom knifemakers of his era.
Centofante was particularly well known for elegant folding knives and played an influential role within the custom knife community.
His design influence gives this Spyderco a personality noticeably different from models such as the Paramilitary 2, Manix or Shaman.
It’s still unmistakably a Spyderco—just wearing a nicer shirt.
Lightweight Everyday Carry
The Centofante 3 is particularly appealing for users who want a capable blade without carrying a thick or heavy folding knife.
Its combination of a 3.14-inch blade, slim FRN handle and lightweight construction provides enough cutting capability for everyday use while remaining comfortable to carry throughout the day.
The included pocket clip keeps the knife readily accessible and helps prevent it from moving loose inside the pocket.
Refined Spyderco EDC Performance
The Spyderco Centofante 3 C66PBK3 combines proven VG-10 blade steel, lightweight construction and the distinctive design influence of Frank Centofante.
Its 3.14-inch plain-edge VG-10 drop-point blade, black FRN handle, Round Hole opener, secure back lock and included pocket clip create a versatile folding knife that balances everyday functionality with refined styling.
For buyers searching for a Spyderco Centofante 3 black FRN plain-edge knife, the C66PBK3 provides a lightweight and distinctive alternative to Spyderco’s more aggressively styled EDC folders.
