Description
Stabilized 18× Viewing Built for the Water
The SIG SAUER ZULU6 HDX Pro Marine 18×50 binocular brings powerful magnification and active image stabilization to demanding marine and outdoor observation. This exact orange model is manufacturer part number SOZ6WP1850M with UPC 798681703128. It is designed for users who need to identify distant vessels, markers, wildlife, shoreline features, or terrain details without relying on a tripod for every observation.
At 18× magnification, small hand movements and platform vibration would normally make a handheld image difficult to evaluate. SIG SAUER’s OmniScan Optical Image Stabilization automatically responds to motion and vibration, applying the appropriate level of correction as the binocular moves. The result is a steadier view whether the user is scanning from a boat, observing from a vehicle, or studying a distant subject from a fixed position.
OmniScan Optical Image Stabilization
OmniScan uses a digital accelerometer to detect how the binocular is moving. It seamlessly varies stabilization instead of requiring the user to switch between separate scanning and target modes. Faster movement receives the correction needed for active scanning, while slower movement allows stronger stabilization for detailed observation.
This automatic behavior makes the ZULU6 HDX Pro Marine especially useful on rough water, where rolling motion can make high-power conventional binoculars frustrating to use. Stabilization also benefits long-range field observation by reducing the shake that becomes more visible as magnification increases.
HDX Pro Optical System
- 18× magnification: Provides substantial reach for examining distant objects and fine details.
- 50 mm objective lenses: Supply the light-gathering area needed to support a bright high-power image.
- HDX Pro lens system: Combines redesigned ED glass with advanced coatings to improve light transmission, reduce glare, and preserve color accuracy.
- Schmidt-Pechan prisms: Support a compact roof-prism arrangement with a straight, manageable body shape.
- 66.6-degree apparent field of view: Creates an immersive viewing window despite the binocular’s powerful magnification.
- 15.3 mm eye relief: Works with twist-up eyecups to help establish a consistent eye position.
Protection from Glare and Harsh Conditions
The flip-back objective lens cover incorporates a polarized lens that can reduce harsh reflected light while adding physical protection to the objectives. This is particularly useful around open water, where glare can obscure detail and contribute to eye fatigue. SpectraCoat reduces surface reflections across the visible spectrum, LensArmor adds abrasion resistance, and LensShield helps shed water, oil, and debris from exposed glass.
The binocular is wrapped in high-visibility orange rubber armor and rated IPX7 waterproof and fogproof. The bright exterior is easier to locate among boat equipment or packed gear, while the included floating neck strap adds security near docks and open water. A custom waterproof Pelican case protects the optic and accessories during storage and transport.
Flexible AA Power
The ZULU6 HDX Pro Marine operates on two AA batteries. It can use the included rechargeable lithium-ion AA batteries or standard alkaline AA batteries, giving the user flexibility when charging access is limited. SIG SAUER lists a runtime of up to 40 hours, though actual operating time can vary with battery type, environmental conditions, and use of the stabilization system.
Handling and Adjustment
The non-locking diopter provides a ±3 adjustment range to balance the image between the user’s eyes. Interpupillary distance adjusts from 56 to 72 mm, and twist-up eyecups help set the preferred viewing position. The near-focus distance is 5.5 m, or approximately 18 feet, reflecting the binocular’s emphasis on medium- and long-range observation.
A tripod mount is available for supported viewing when the user wants maximum steadiness during prolonged observation. A compatible adapter and tripod are not included, but the mounting capability gives the binocular additional flexibility for fixed-position use.
