Description
George Washington was the first U.S. president and Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution, a role that secured his legacy as the “Father of His Country”. Born in Virginia in 1732, he was a planter who became a skilled surveyor, then led American forces to victory against the British. After the war, he led the Constitutional Convention and established many presidential precedents during his two terms in office, retiring after his presidency.
