Description

Smith & Wesson Model 686 SPEC R .357 Magnum Revolver

The Smith & Wesson Model 686 SPEC R takes the legendary L-Frame Model 686 in a distinctly modern direction. Model 14635 combines the proven stainless steel revolver platform with specialized finishes, PowerPort barrel technology and a factory-mounted Aimpoint ACRO optic.

Chambered for .357 Magnum and .38 Special +P, the SPEC R features a 7-shot cylinder, 4.13-inch vented stainless steel barrel, Titanium Cerakote treatment, Black PVD cylinder and checkered wood grip.

4.13-Inch PowerPort Barrel

The Model 686 SPEC R features a distinctive 4.13-inch stainless steel barrel with PowerPort technology.

The ported configuration redirects expanding gases through the top of the barrel assembly to help manage muzzle rise, complementing the performance-oriented design of this premium Model 686.

Vented Stainless Steel Barrel

In addition to its PowerPort design, the Smith & Wesson Model 686 SPEC R incorporates a distinctive vented barrel profile.

The combination of stainless steel construction, venting and porting gives the SPEC R an unmistakable appearance while reinforcing its modern interpretation of the classic L-Frame revolver.

.357 Magnum and .38 Special +P

The SPEC R is chambered in .357 Magnum and is also compatible with .38 Special +P, giving shooters access to a broad selection of ammunition within the same revolver.

This cartridge versatility has long been one of the defining advantages of Smith & Wesson’s .357 Magnum revolver platforms.

7-Shot L-Frame Cylinder

The Smith & Wesson Model 686 SPEC R features a 7-round cylinder, providing an additional round compared with traditional six-shot .357 Magnum revolvers.

The substantial L-Frame architecture provides the foundation for the seven-shot cylinder while retaining the handling characteristics associated with the Model 686 family.

Aimpoint ACRO Optic Included

One of the most significant features of Model 14635 is its factory-equipped Aimpoint ACRO red dot optic.

The enclosed-emitter optic provides a modern electronic sighting solution and gives the SPEC R a dramatically different configuration from conventional iron-sighted Model 686 revolvers.

Modern Optics-Ready Revolver Platform

The Smith & Wesson Model 686 SPEC R integrates its electronic optic directly into a revolver platform designed around modern performance features.

The combination of an enclosed red dot sight, PowerPort barrel and seven-shot cylinder creates a contemporary configuration while retaining traditional double-action and single-action revolver operation.

Titanium Cerakote Finish

The stainless steel barrel and frame receive a distinctive Titanium Cerakote finish, giving the SPEC R a premium appearance while providing an additional protective surface treatment.

The lighter Titanium Cerakote contrasts sharply with the Black PVD cylinder and dark wood grip, creating a unique multi-tone appearance.

Black PVD Cylinder

A Black PVD-finished 7-shot cylinder provides a striking contrast against the Titanium Cerakote frame and barrel.

The combination of specialized surface treatments is one of the defining visual characteristics of the Smith & Wesson SPEC R configuration.

Checkered Wood Grip

The Smith & Wesson Model 686 SPEC R is fitted with a checkered wood grip that brings a traditional element to an otherwise highly modern revolver.

The natural wood and checkering provide a distinctive contrast to the Titanium Cerakote, Black PVD cylinder and Aimpoint optic.

Double-Action and Single-Action Operation

An exposed hammer provides traditional double-action and single-action operation.

The revolver can be fired through a double-action trigger pull or manually cocked for single-action operation, preserving the versatile operating characteristics expected from the Model 686 platform.

Premium Evolution of the Model 686

The Smith & Wesson Model 686 SPEC R combines one of Smith & Wesson’s most established revolver platforms with contemporary performance and optics technology.

With its 7-shot .357 Magnum cylinder, 4.13-inch PowerPort barrel, Titanium Cerakote finish, Black PVD cylinder and Aimpoint ACRO optic, the SPEC R offers a distinctive premium configuration for enthusiasts looking beyond a traditional Model 686.
