Description
SIG SAUER ROMEO-M17 Enclosed Reflex Sight
The SIG SAUER ROMEO-M17 is a military-focused, fully enclosed reflex sight engineered specifically for the U.S. Military M17/M18 Modular Handgun System and compatible commemorative pistols. Its sealed, gas-purged optical system protects the emitter from rain, debris, and environmental exposure, while the coyote-finished 7075 aluminum housing is built for demanding service. A low deck height preserves a full sight picture with standard-height iron sights on the intended pistols.
This is SIG SAUER manufacturer part number SORM1700, UPC 798681688555. It uses SIG’s proprietary SIG-LOC mounting interface and a selectable red 2 MOA dot/32 MOA circle reticle.
Critical Compatibility Notice
The ROMEO-M17 fits only SIG SAUER M17/M18 military-issue pistols and compatible commemorative pistols with the single optics-plate mounting screw. It does not fit standard commercial P320 slides or other pistol footprints. Confirm the pistol’s exact slide and mounting system before ordering. This optic should not be selected simply because a pistol is marked P320, M17, or M18.
Enclosed, Purpose-Built Construction
The housing encloses both the front and rear of the optical system, helping shield the emitter and internal surfaces from contamination. An integrated gas deflector protects the forward portion of the optic, drainage openings allow pooled liquid to escape, and machined anti-reflection grooves on the rear surfaces help reduce glare. SIG-LOC mounts the optic from beneath the slide and reuses the MHS rear-sight block and screw, creating multiple points of contact intended to resist movement under recoil and impact.
Selectable Circle-Dot Reticle
The high-efficiency LED emitter provides three user-selectable presentations: a precise 2 MOA dot, a fast-acquisition 32 MOA circle, or the combined circle-and-dot reticle. Fifteen illumination settings include 12 daytime levels and three settings optimized for Gen 3+ night-vision equipment. Recessed brightness buttons are protected against accidental activation and have tactile reference features that can be identified by touch.
Power and Activation
A side-loading CR2032 battery compartment allows battery replacement without removing the sight or disturbing its zero. SIG rates runtime at up to 50,000 hours when using the dot-only reticle at a medium brightness setting. MOTAC motion-sensing technology powers illumination when movement is detected and shuts it down during inactivity. MAGNETAC can work with a compatible magnet-equipped holster to turn the optic off when holstered and restore the previous setting when drawn.

Optical Technologies
The ROMEO-M17 incorporates SIG SAUER’s abrasion-resistant LensArmor coatings and SpectraCoat anti-reflection treatment for durability and light transmission. D.A.R.C. coatings and illumination settings support use with compatible night-vision equipment, while SIG’s molded aspheric lens technology is designed to reduce distortion and maintain a clear view through the optic.
Installation and Zeroing
Installation should follow the ROMEO-M17 owner’s manual and the instructions for the compatible pistol. Make certain the firearm is unloaded and cleared before removing the optics plate or rear-sight components. After mounting, establish and confirm zero with the intended ammunition, then recheck fastener security and sight operation after the first range session. The windage and elevation controls provide tactile clicks and accept a small flat-blade tool.
For a qualifying single-screw military-issue or commemorative M17/M18, the ROMEO-M17 delivers a sealed circle-dot sight, direct SIG-LOC attachment, long battery life, and the low optical axis needed to work with the pistol’s standard-height sights.
