Description
The SIG SAUER ROMEO-X Compact SORX1290 is a low-profile, open-emitter pistol reflex sight configured with a 6 MOA green dot and black finish. Built for the compact RMSc footprint used by many slim optics-ready pistols, it delivers a large, easy-to-find aiming point in a housing approximately 1.62 inches long. The combination is well suited to users who want rapid dot acquisition without adding an enclosed housing above the lens.
Compact construction with a low optical axis
The ROMEO-X Compact uses a machined 7075-aluminum housing for strength in a small form factor. Its low deck height is designed to preserve a practical sight picture with many standard-height iron sights, although the actual co-witness depends on the pistol, optic cut, plate, and installed sights. An aspherical glass lens helps deliver a clear, distortion-controlled view while the open window keeps the optic’s profile lean.
SIG SAUER’s patent-pending beryllium-copper flexure system supports the internal adjustment mechanism. The optic also incorporates an integrated rear sight notch, providing a secondary visual reference when it is compatible with the host pistol’s front sight. These features reflect a design intended for concealed carry, range training, and other handgun applications where compact dimensions and straightforward controls matter.
Visible 6 MOA green dot
The SORX1290 projects a single 6 MOA green aiming dot at 1x magnification. A 6 MOA dot covers roughly six inches at 100 yards and proportionally less at typical handgun distances, making it quick to pick up while still allowing useful precision. Green illumination can offer strong visual contrast in many environments, though individual color perception and astigmatism can affect how any projected dot appears.
Fifteen illumination levels give the user control across changing light conditions. Three are intended for use with compatible night-vision equipment, while the remaining settings cover normal visible-light use. SIG’s MOTAC motion-activated illumination conserves energy by shutting the emitter down during inactivity and restoring it when movement is detected. Brightness should be set high enough to remain visible without creating unnecessary bloom around the dot.
Battery access and environmental protection
A side-mounted CR1632 battery tray allows battery replacement without removing the optic from the slide. Avoiding removal reduces disturbance to the mounting interface and can help preserve the established zero. SIG rates runtime at up to 20,000 hours under specified conditions; real battery life depends on brightness selection, temperature, battery quality, and how often the optic remains active.
The optic carries an IPX7 waterproof rating for temporary water immersion under the standard’s defined test conditions. Because this is an open-emitter design, the window and emitter channel should still be inspected for lint, moisture, mud, or other obstructions. Clean the lens only with appropriate optical tools and materials, and confirm function after exposure to harsh conditions.

Confirm compatibility before installation
Verify that the handgun or adapter plate accepts the RMSc footprint and that the supplied or selected screws match the host firearm. Screw length and thread pattern can vary, and incorrect hardware can damage the optic or pistol. Follow the firearm and optic instructions for installation and torque, apply any specified thread treatment, and establish a zero with the intended ammunition. Recheck mounting security and zero after the first range session, after an impact, and whenever the optic has been serviced.
