SIG SAUER XRAY3 Super-Tall Day/Night Sight Set

SIG SAUER XRAY3 Super-Tall Day/Night Sight Set

The SIG SAUER XRAY3 Super-Tall sight set is designed to provide a clear, durable sight picture in bright daylight, transitional light and darkness. This exact set, manufacturer part number SOX10009, includes a suppressor-height front and rear sight with green tritium illumination. The front uses SIG’s high-visibility XRAY3 treatment, while the rear presents a round U-shaped notch that naturally guides the eye toward the front sight.

The super-tall profile is intended for configurations that need more sight height than standard factory sights can provide. Depending on the pistol, slide, optic and suppressor dimensions, that additional height may allow the sights to remain visible through or around a slide-mounted optic and above some suppressors. Co-witness height is not universal, so the complete pistol and optic combination should be measured before installation.

Day-and-Night Visibility

Tritium inserts glow without batteries or external charging, keeping the sight references visible when ambient light is low. In daylight, the front sight’s green high-visibility treatment helps distinguish the primary aiming point from the black sight body. The darker rear treatment reduces visual distraction and supports a front-sight-focused presentation.

Tritium brightness changes gradually over its service life and may appear less intense in transitional light than in full darkness. It is intended to help locate and align the sights, not to illuminate a target. Positive target identification and safe firearm handling remain essential in every lighting condition.

Super-Tall Steel Construction

The front and rear components are made for dovetail installation and use a black steel construction suited to the impacts and handling associated with a working pistol. The super-tall height provides added clearance compared with standard sights, while the round U-notch rear offers a generous channel for quickly centering the front sight.

This set is commonly used with compatible SIG SAUER Classic-line and P-series pistols, including supported P320, P250, P226, P229, P220, P225, P227, P238 and P938 configurations. Compatibility can vary by slide generation, dovetail dimensions, optic cut and caliber. It should not be selected solely by pistol family name without confirming the required SIG sight heights and dovetail pattern.

Installation and Fit

Proper sight installation requires the correct pusher or fitting tools and care to avoid damaging the slide, sight body or tritium vials. Sight alignment, dovetail tension and point of impact should be checked after installation. Professional installation is recommended when the user does not have the correct tools or experience.

Before fitting or adjusting sights, unload the pistol completely and remove all ammunition from the work area. Confirm that the selected #6-front/#8-rear combination is appropriate for the exact slide and intended point of impact. After installation, test the pistol safely at known distances and inspect the sights periodically for movement, impact damage or loss of visibility.
