Description
SIG SAUER ROMEO-X Compact Blackout 3 MOA Red Dot
The SIG SAUER ROMEO-X Compact Blackout is a rugged, low-profile open-emitter reflex sight built for slim, optics-ready pistols. This exact model, manufacturer part number SORX1231, uses the Compact Shield RMSc footprint and a simple 3 MOA red-dot reticle. It is designed for the P365 family and other compatible pistols or mounts that follow the RMSc interface.
The Blackout configuration removes the fiber-optic backup sight elements found on some ROMEO-X variants, giving the housing a clean, subdued appearance. Its low deck height is engineered to allow an absolute co-witness with compatible standard-height iron sights. Actual co-witness and screw requirements depend on the pistol, slide cut, adapter plate, and sight heights, so fit should always be confirmed for the specific host firearm.
Clear 3 MOA Aiming Point
The single 3 MOA red dot provides a practical balance between fast visibility and a precise aiming reference. At 1x magnification, the sight supports a natural, target-focused presentation with both eyes open. The 24mm objective window and distortion-free aspherical lens are designed to present a clear field of view while keeping the optic compact enough for everyday-carry-sized pistols.
Fifteen illumination settings provide 12 daytime levels and three night-vision-compatible levels. This range helps the user select a dot intensity appropriate for bright outdoor light, indoor environments, or supported night-vision equipment. The brightness should be set high enough to remain visible without creating unnecessary bloom around the dot.
MOTAC and Side-Loading Battery
SIG SAUER’s MOTAC motion-activated illumination system powers the optic up when movement is detected and conserves energy during periods of inactivity. Published runtime is up to 20,000 hours under the manufacturer’s specified conditions. Actual battery life varies with brightness setting, temperature, battery quality, storage, and movement frequency.
The ROMEO-X Compact uses one CR1632 battery. Its side-loading battery compartment allows battery replacement without removing the optic from the slide, helping preserve the installed zero. Even with this design, the sight should be checked after any battery change, hard impact, mounting adjustment, or extended storage.
7075-Aluminum Construction
The housing is machined from 7075 aluminum for strength in a compact package. A patent-pending beryllium-copper flexure arm supports the adjustment system, while D.A.R.C. and SpectraCoat lens technologies help manage optical distortion and reflections. The open-emitter layout keeps the sight light and streamlined, although the lens and emitter channel should be inspected and kept clear of lint, mud, snow, and other debris.
The optic is IPX7 rated for water resistance. Its black anodized finish complements common carry-pistol finishes and adds surface protection. Overall dimensions are approximately 1.62 inches long, 1.23 inches wide, and 0.94 inch high, with a listed weight of approximately one ounce.
Adjustment and Mounting
Windage and elevation use 1.5-MOA adjustment increments, with 80 MOA of total travel in each direction. The compact Shield RMSc footprint permits direct mounting to appropriately cut slides, including compatible optics-ready P365 models. Other pistols may require a correctly matched adapter plate. Use only the hardware specified for the firearm and optic combination, follow published torque guidance, and apply thread treatment only when directed by the manufacturer.

Configuration Note
SORX1231 is the 3 MOA dot-only Compact Blackout model. It is not the larger ROMEO-X PRO footprint and does not use the selectable circle-dot reticle offered on other ROMEO-X configurations. Confirm the firearm’s optic cut, mounting hardware, and clearance before installation. After mounting, verify zero and periodically inspect fasteners, lens condition, battery state, and iron-sight alignment.
